I have not written in this format for many a year. Comments on social media (mainly Facebook and Reddit) are just shouting into an echo chamber. I do want to go on record for future generations or maybe just my own peace of mind about what it is like in America in 2025/2026.
It seems we are watching our country eat itself alive with a portion of the populace cheering it on, and a majority gasping in horror over the daily headlines. In case you have been cut off from the world in an underground shelter, "We the People" have elected a Narcissistic Psycho as president for a SECOND TIME.
This time, the man has all the assistance he needs to tear down the laws and traditions that have held this country (and to some extent the world) together. He also is tearing down the White House and several institutions in our nation's capital without a peep from our other two governing bodies.
What makes this possible is the cowering political party he heads along with a Supreme Court he holds in his pocket. Three equal legs controlling power? Not at this time! The US Constitution who respect for has kept things on more or less an even keel is now nowhere to be seen. As one of this president's deputies explained: "There are no laws, only power".

Yes I used Chat GPT for a reminder (to me) of what use to be. There WAS a desire in the this country to make the marketplace of ideas a fair one. Our elections were pretty near clean and reliable up until recently. The first chink in the armor was from the Bush/Gore election. Despite half a million more votes for Gore, GW Bush was declared the winner by a divided Supreme Court. hmm. The beginning of the end of trust on elections. I have more to say on this, it will come later.
